As I complete my Better Me: Better World Project, I’ve realized that this experience was not just a temporary assignment—it became the foundation for how I want to grow moving forward. Each of the five NSLS tracks helped me build habits, awareness, and leadership skills that I plan to carry with me long after this program. This final reflection is about what comes next: how I will continue developing myself, how I will apply what I’ve learned, and what I would recommend to anyone beginning their own growth journey.

One of the biggest lessons I learned is that growth is not a one‑time event—it’s a continuous process. The routines I built for physical health, intellectual development, emotional care, ethical reflection, and service have become part of my daily life. I plan to continue strengthening these habits, especially as I work toward entering the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Staying physically strong, mentally sharp, and emotionally grounded will be essential in the healthcare field, and this project helped me understand how interconnected those areas truly are.

Looking ahead, I want to deepen my professional development by taking more healthcare‑related courses, attending workshops, and seeking mentorship opportunities. I’ve learned that intellectual growth doesn’t happen automatically—it requires intention and consistency. I also plan to continue journaling and practicing emotional‑intelligence skills, because those habits have helped me stay centered, patient, and compassionate in both my personal life and my caregiving roles.

In terms of service, I want to continue making a positive impact through my work at Silver Maple Assisted Living and Willow River Farms. These environments have taught me so much about empathy, leadership, and the importance of showing up for others. I also hope to explore additional volunteer opportunities that align with my long‑term goals in healthcare. Service has become more than a requirement—it’s part of who I am becoming.

If I were to offer recommendations to anyone starting their own Better Me: Better World Project, I would say this: start small, stay consistent, and be honest with yourself. Growth doesn’t happen all at once. It happens through small choices, steady habits, and moments of reflection. Don’t be afraid to adjust your plan when life changes. And most importantly, give yourself credit for the progress you make, even if it feels slow. Every step counts.

This project helped me see myself more clearly—as a leader, a caregiver, and a person who is capable of meaningful growth. I’m grateful for the challenges, the insights, and the opportunities it brought into my life. And while the project may be complete, the journey is far from over. I’m committed to continuing this work, building on what I’ve learned, and becoming the best version of myself for the people I serve and the future I’m working toward.
